Last April 18, 2011, My husband, his son, and I went for a Trip to Pinahon Island. It was 6 years ago since last time i was there so i find it interesting to go there again just like the old times. We take a motorcab from Galas to Dipolog Bus terminal, and then take a local jeepney going to Sibutad ONLY since no trip that time straight down to Libay Port. It takes about 3 hours travel from Dipolog to Sibutad, and then we take Habal-Habal from Sibutad to Libay Port ( Cost a fortune for us with the fare rate especially when they see you with a foreign people). From the Port, takes about 20 mins with the pumpboat going to the Island.
They had small cottages where you can check in and stay overnight there, as a person like me who like peaceful, feel so lucky that time that not too much people stay overnight there. Little bit difficult also to find food if you don´t have something with you, but good thing the care taker of the Island is there to buy some fish for us when they should go to the main Island also for their main courses also.
During night time, was very nice to make some fire just over the white sand beach and grill some fish same time. The water gets very low tide (almost two meter down from the surface of the actually water level during day time), very Cozy and so relaxing, but you might be surprised with the walo -walo snakes there, they said it´s kinda dangerous snake but they are harmless if you don´t hurt them (of course). They just get out from the stones or anywhere around the Island so they usually advise us to bring some torch or flashlights just to watch our steps while walking around the island..
They had power generator to access with the electricity, they had karaoke for those who love to sing, and what you can actually do there during the day is swim at the nice beach, and snorkeling...
Galas to Dipolog ( P8.00 / head)
Dipolog to Sibutad ( 70.00 / head)
Sibutad to Libay Port ( P50.00 / motorbike pakyaw)
Libay Port to Pinahon Island ( P500/ pumpboat
pakyaw & v.v.)
Rooms rates ( P500 ( & P300 / night) ...
Ha ha, and after you have stumbled over all the snakes, nobody dare sleeping on the floor anymore and we was three person crowded on the hard bed!
